Arlene M.
Receptionist/Scheduling Coordinator

I worked in orthodontics for 7 years before joining the team of Drs. Engen and Hahn in 2002. Since then, I have greatly expanded my knowledge and interest in the dentistry field.

In my position, I schedule and coordinate patient's appointments as well as help with the correspondence between the referring offices and ours. I also take care of all hygiene recall and get prudent information from referring doctors for first time patients. Not only do I help patients by answering their initial questions about our practice and their treatment needs, but I get to develop a rapport with each one…

I thoroughly enjoy working at Drs. Engen and Hahn's office. The camaraderie and professionalism that our group shares, along with the sense of humor, makes it a warm environment that I enjoy being a part of each day.

Outside the office, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, redecorating my home and reading. I have three grown children, Michael, Christina and Andrew; and two precious grandchildren.

Barbara J.
Office Coordinator/Assistant

I have enjoyed working in the field of dentistry since 1986. I joined 's practice in 1988. I feel very fortunate to be involved with such a caring and professional group as is here at Drs. Engen and Hahn's office.

I help run the day to day front office including scheduling, patient treatment coordinating as well as transcribe all communication from our office to our referring doctors. In addition, I am both a surgical and orthodontic assistant which enables me to work one on one with the patients and really get to know them. I also teach the importance of good oral hygiene and how it needs to be a lifelong commitment. In addition, I coordinate continuing education meetings our doctor's host including the Spokane Study Club.

Being part of a team that can change a person's smile, help patients gain more confidence as well as bettering their oral health through braces, implants and cosmetic surgery is very rewarding!

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Alan and our son Joey. We love to golf, vacation on the Oregon Coast and being with friends and family. I have lived in Spokane my whole life, my husband and I went to the same junior high, high school and college!

Cynthia (Cindy) B.
Registered Dental Hygienist

I graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1972 with a B.S. degree in Dental Hygiene and was inducted into the National Dental Hygiene Honors Society, Sigma Phi Alpha. I was Washington State's 996th licensed hygienist!

I have been blessed to have practiced in Spokane all my professional life. I have worked with since 1976. In addition to working in a private practice with an emphasis in periodontal therapy, I teach clinical dental hygiene at Eastern Washington University. EWU has been rated one of the top hygiene programs and I have enjoyed teaching there since the early 80's.

I love my job! I am part of a team that provides outstanding care for our patients and we have a great time doing it! I thoroughly enjoy working with Drs. Engen, Engen and Hahn. We do not have a high turn over in employees; in fact, most of us have worked together for many years! The best part of my job is nourishing long standing relationships with my patient and the friends I work with.

My family is the most important thing in the world. My husband Fred and I have three children, Frank, Susan and Richard and three grandchildren, Franchesca, Patrick and Joshua who we enjoy spending as much time with as we can. Fred and I love gardening, photography, traveling, old houses and antiques.

Jan R.
Registered Dental Hygienist

I graduated from Eastern Washington University Dental Hygiene program in 1976. My very first job out of hygiene school was with !

My workweek is divided between general dentistry, teaching at the EWU hygiene clinic and here at Drs. Engen, Engen and Hahn's office.

I particularly enjoy the education process of my job. Helping other to achieve their best in oral health is very rewarding. The things I treasure most about our office is the commitment we all have towards our patients and the teamwork we have created to achieve this goal.

Roger and I have been married for twenty-three years and have one son who is in the Coast Guard. I love sewing, reading, bicycling and traveling with my husband. Roger would like to someday retire to North Carolina and I keep asking him if he can spell hurricane and humidity!

Nichole A.
Surgical/Orthodontic Assistant

I graduated from Spokane Community College where I received my degree in Dental Assisting in June 2005. I was lucky enough to be hired at this office right out of school!

I enjoy working with children and adults so being in a dual specialty office gives me the opportunity to work with both! I have found working in the dental field to be very rewarding. I have enjoyed helping our patients improve their oral health through replacing missing teeth with dental implants, regenerating lost bone and tissue as well as straighten teeth.

I was born in San Diego, CA. I was raised on the East Coast and moved to Spokane in 1999.

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband Matt and our wonderful step-daughter and son. We enjoy the outdoors, including motorcycle and dirt bike riding as well as taking our dogs for walks.

Stacy B.
Surgical/Orthodontic Assistant

I am a graduate of Spokane Community College where I received my Dental Assisting Degree. I began working for Drs. Engen and Hahn in 2002.

I am both a surgical and orthodontic assistant. I love the variety of my profession! I assist in cases from placing dental implants to placing braces. I also do the ordering for all our dental supplies as well as the prizes and games for our dental patients. I attend continuing education lectures on a regular basis and help coordinate many of the lectures Dr. David Engen hosts such as the Inland Northwest Dental Hygiene Study Club and the Peer Practicum Study Club. I also explain to our patients the importance of a lifelong commitment to good oral hygiene to keeping their mouths healthy.

It is very rewarding to help restore someone's smile and confidence! I am proud to work at an office where everyone takes such pride in their job and is so caring. We all truly want the very best result for each and every patient!

Outside the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband Jason and my step-daughter Cloe. We love spending time with our families and our two dogs. We do a lot of barbequing, camping and boating on the lakes and rivers near by.

Marsha M.
Treatment and Financial Coordinator

I have worked in the field of dentistry here in Spokane since 1979. I started as an assistant in a Children's practice and then worked 13 years in general dentistry. I joined Drs. Engen and Hahn's practice in 2007 as a treatment and financial coordinator.

I enjoy getting to know each patient while working closely with them to help figure out how to financially accomplish their dental goals; whether it is getting the most out of their dental benefits or arranging a financial payment option they are comfortable with.

I find it very interesting how orthodontics, periodontics and implants come together to compliment each other to provide the results of a great smile and healthy mouth. Seeing the day to day results is a great way for me to take part in sharing in our patient's successes.

Dr. Engen & Hahn welcomed me with open arms just as they do every patient who walks through our doors.

On my days off, I enjoy bicycling, walking, gardening and making special handmade cards for family and friends; it's the little bit of artist in me!

Lynda N.
Business Manager

As a psychology graduate from EWU, I began my career in elementary education. After a satisfying time teaching and starting my family, I returned to the field of general dentistry of which I worked as a dental assistant in high school and college. For the past 27 years I've had many fulfilling positions in the business serving as an office manager, dental assistant, help in establishing a new practice, treatment and financial coordinator and even equipment repair.

I joined Drs. Engen and Hahn's practice in 2003. I am the office's Business Manager after having previously served as the treatment and financial coordinator. I find the field of periodontics and orthodontics very interesting and have thoroughly enjoyed learning a new aspect of dentistry. It's particularly rewarding to see the benefit these two skills will bring to you and the functional and aesthetic improvements we are able to achieve.

Besides doing the bookkeeping for the office, I am available to help you coordinate your treatment, work out your dental benefits and arrange financing and payment options. I especially enjoy getting to know the patients and discovering our common interests. The people I meet, the quality of care we provide and the close interaction of the doctors and our team of specialist are what make my job so gratifying.

When I am not working, I enjoy my family and friends and spend time in my yard, garden, traveling and quilting. I have two beautiful grown daughters whom are the joy of my life; although they think they have been replaced by my cute Westie!

Heidi S.
Sterilization Assistant

I love being a part of the Drs. Engen and Hahn family. I am the newest member (since 2010) of the team and have been welcomed with open arms by each and every member of this wonderful, knowledgeable and caring staff!

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from Washington State University (Go Cougs!) and do ‘a little bit of everything’ here at the office. My official title is sterilization assistant, but you’ll also see me taking x-rays, helping the hygienists, co-assisting in implant surgeries and even teaching new brushing and flossing techniques to patients! Every day is new and different from the last. I truly appreciate visiting and getting to know our patients.

My family is very important to me. My husband and I have been married for 20 years and have two teenage boys that keep us very busy. Much of our free time is spent watching their various athletic events at school: football, basketball, track and baseball! It’s one of my favorite things to do, as I love cheering my boys on! We also enjoy outdoor activities like camping, our two loveable dogs, and spending time with our extended families.
